Julia Briselba is 42 and has five children and eight grandchildren. She says she got involved in her community because she saw women's and her community's needs. She says that she is always looking for ways to help women and to help her community.
With the knowledge that Julia Briselba has gained through neighborhood projects, she provides advice and support for women survivors of abuse in her community. She says that the projects have helped her help others to gain self-esteem and to value themselves.
Julia Briselba takes part in the nutrition program for children, and in the educational workshops for women. She says that the knowledge she has gained in natural medicine also allows her to help her community. "We are on the forefront," of addressing the most serious problems, she says. She emphasizes the importance of the Villa Esperanza projects in confronting community problems.
Julia Briselba would like to see the project include more women from the neighborhood, forming a broader collective. She wants her community to survive, to make their lives better, to move forward, and especially to look after the children. She envisions her community as always working, continuing to learn, and helping others get ahead.
Julia Briselba says that there are women who can do all kinds of work, with lots of ideas, and that they just need the resources to do it. She stresses that without your support, they cannot do anything. |
